Monitoring System*

GM's oil-life monitoring system allows drivers to potentially conserve nearly 38 million litres of oil annually. The system senses when the oil in a vehicle is nearing the end of its useful life and notifies the driver with a "change oil" message on the dashboard, ultimately protecting the engine from premature wear.

Rather than depending on fixed oil change schedules that may not be suitable for all situations, the monitoring system customizes the oil change schedule based on the vehicle's engine and transmission type, and the individual's driving habits.
